Lisa Cusack, CEO
A graduate of Virginia Tech and a Certified Public Accountant, Lisa did not imagine she would be CEO of an IT firm. Lisa began her career in 1985 by working with a regional public accounting firm in both the audit and tax fields for over ten years. She then managed her own full-time practice beginning in 1996. Lisa became more and more engaged with CSS beginning in 2008, ultimately managing all financial and contractual matters, while Bob Cusack, founder of CSS, remained heavily involved serving the client. In 2009 Lisa, Bob and the CSS Board of Directors made the decision for Lisa to take over management of the company, while Bob focused on corporate operations as COO.

As CEO, Lisa took on the responsibilities of corporate management, contracts administration, human resource management and financial management. In 2012, the Leesburg area that CSS is located in was designated a Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone). Lisa performed the research and paperwork necessary for obtaining HUBZone certification for CSS. She also moved the company forward with process improvements and sponsored CSS to become CMMI ML2 assessed in 2016. Lisa is involved with outreach activities such as supporting Loudoun Hunger Relief, Mobile Hope, and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. She and COO Bob Cusack, form a formidable senior management team that is able to proactively address the needs of clients, partners and employees.
Robert (Bob) Cusack, COO
Bob graduated from the University of Maryland in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In his last semester he received a computer (a TI-99-4a!) as a gift and quickly taught himself Assembler and Basic. He enjoyed programming so much that he enrolled in a computer technology school and graduated in six months with honors and a computer programming degree. He began working as a programmer in the mid 1980’s. Because he enjoyed working with clients and providing valuable solutions through computer technology, in 1990 he decided to start his own business and founded Custom Software Systems, Inc. (CSS). While supporting various Federal and State government organizations Bob progressed thru the levels of software developer, database administrator, data architect, team lead, project manager and program manager. He has managed development teams, database and data architecture teams and middleware teams giving him a breadth of knowledge across the IT Enterprise. He understands customer satisfaction is the most important requirement for continued success and instills that through the corporate culture. By placing company priority on meeting customer needs he and the CSS Team have grown the company into a successful Information Technology consulting business with contracts spanning multiple Federal and State agencies.

Bob’s initial focus with CSS was on providing IT support to Federal Government Regulatory agencies. He is now performing as the CSS Chief Operating Officer. He continues to work closely with his Teams and clients to ensure quality delivery of solutions that provide value to those clients. Bob is also involved with outreach activities such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He works closely with his local government in support of Small Businesses and the Leesburg HUBZone Program. Bob’s personal accomplishments also include earning a second degree black belt in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do and holding an instrument-rated private pilot’s license. In his “spare” time he enjoys spending time with his family. He resides with his wife and four children in Leesburg, VA.
Debra Fireline, Director of Program Management
Debra joined CSS in 2014 to oversee CSS’s Federal Financial Regulatory programs. She plays a critical role in delivering high-quality products and services and effective operational performance of these programs. She leverages the company’s performance excellence and applies delivery and service management best practices to increase organic growth. She has more than 16 years of experience in the federal government successfully delivering information technology solutions and management consulting services.

She has managed high profile programs and initiatives for various government agencies, such as Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), U.S. Department of State (DoS), Federal Reserve Board (FRB), and several DHS Components, as well as the U.K.’s Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO). She brings her expertise in client and project management to drive business growth while optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness the company’s core capabilities in program and project oversight, database and data management, application lifecycle management and development, business intelligence, and operations maintenance functions. Debra has a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Liberty University. She holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certifications, Six Sigma Green Belt certification (CSSGB), and an ISO auditor certification.
Alyssa Krisko, Senior Program Manager Alyssa joined CSS in 2015 to manage the company’s State government programs. She is experienced in providing senior leadership; program management; and services and solutions delivery for business transformation, process governance, enterprise information management, and enterprise applications development efforts. Alyssa’s experience includes governance of mission operations, human resources, IT, finance, contracts, and business development policies, processes, data, systems and supporting technologies.

Through her professional engagements, Alyssa has become skilled in establishing, organizing and managing delivery teams and the stakeholder relationships necessary to achieve the objectives of enterprise-wide programs. She fosters environments that promote team work, mentoring and a clear connection to mission success to motivate team members to achieve program goals.
Alyssa earned her PMP® certification and holds a BS in Computer Science/Information Science from Binghamton University.
Karen Bell, Senior Program Manager, Technology, Data Management and Business Analysis Karen joined CSS in 2019 to assist in delivering superior results to government agencies. She is a focused, highly analytical and hands-on problem solver with extensive senior and executive level experience in operations, policies and processes, system development life cycle methodologies, information technology systems, innovation, strategies and roadmaps, business analysis, enterprise data management and data migrations, process automation and continuous improvement yielding successful business outcomes. She also participates in technology reviews and solution development sessions.

She has provided direct contract support and/or management oversight to Federal Civilian Agency and private industry contracts including the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Karen is a self-motivated, dynamic, results oriented leader and mentor with tremendous capability to work in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, negotiate competing priorities, and drive projects from initiation through completion.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Maryland and is an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Data Management Association (DAMA) International.
